Brest

Things to do in Brest…

Brest is a port city in Brittany, in Northwestern France, bisected by the Penfeld rivers. It’s known for its rich maritime history and naval base.

At the mouth of the Penfeld, overlooking the harbor, is the National Naval Museum, housed in the medieval Chateau de Brest. Across the river, stands Tour Tanguy, a medieval tower.

To the northeast, are the National Botanical Conservatory, and the Oceanopolis aquarium.

Morlaix

Morlaix in Brittany is a medieval town famous for its 19th century viaduct, charming 16th century half-timber houses and the beautiful Bay of Morlaix.

You can go shopping in the picturesque streets and discover all kinds of market stalls, little boutiques and other charming shops, all under the shadow of the towering viaduct.

The signature dish of the area, found in many of Morlaix’s restaurants’, is ‘Kig Ha Farz’, a homely dish of several different meats such as ham hock, bacon, sausage and beef, served with leeks, cabbage, carrot and a buttery sauce known as lipig. Enjoy with a glass of local cidre (cider).
